Best movie of 2012?

I’ve only seen two movies this year, so I’m going to say Les Miserables.

Killing Them Sofly Brad Pitt surprised me.
Sky fall
Looper
Cabin in the Woods

On reflection, I actually went to four movies this year, but I’m going to stick with Les Miserables.

My favorite was Tin-tin but really enjoyed Hitchcock as well. Haven’t seen a lot of movies this year as concerts are more my thing.

This of course doesn’t count but I REALLY enjoyed the Fathom Events simulcast of Singin’ in the Rain! I went to both the matinee and the evening show.

I was able to see the Parental Guidance film today, and to me, it is awesome!

God bless you always!!!

Holly

Excellent year for movies this year, especially after how last year’s high-end crop was a little underwhelming. I’d go with Silver Linings Playbook as the best movie I’ve seen this year, narrowly over The Master. I loved Day-Lewis’s performance in Lincoln, but the movie as a whole was a bit lacking for me. Zero Dark Thirty isn’t out in my area until 1/11, and (in a criminal oversight, as a Wes Anderson fan) I haven’t seen Moonrise Kingdom yet, but I’ve seen all of the other top contenders (among 30-40 movies I’ve seen in theaters overall this year). Frankly, I’d also really like to see The Avengers, Skyfall, and/or Cabin in the Woods get nominated as Best Picture as well, as with up to 10 nominees, I’d much rather see some attention going to excellently written and crafted movies across several genres rather than just piling on the dramas that were good, but not quite as good as that top tier (i.e. Les Mis, Argo, Flight).
