Which version did you see? I understand that the studio dubbed the version shown in America, claiming that Americans wouldn’t be able to understand the Australian accents.
(this was 1979 after all, a couple years before the Australian craze in the US.)
Even with the dubbed dialogue it wasn’t as fun as The Road Warrior.
Well, it wasn’t Uncanny Valley, it was stop-motion animation.

Uncanny Valley is independent of production techniques. It is simply when the imitation is just close enough to reality to make the viewer uneasy.
Right, but maybe it’s because I’ve seen a lot of stop motion toons as a kid that it doesn’t look odd to me.

Uncanny Valley isn’t related to motion. Just a single still image of the film definitely strikes me as Uncanny Valley material.
