“Happiness is a Warm Gun” seems to be an assemblage of fragments too, but presumably mostly John fragments rather than Paul ones.
I don’t have an issue with them doing this. It seems to me that they made it work very well. ADITL may mark the discovery of the technique, but its not the last time it worked, and it not only resulted in some of The Beatles’ best work, but in some of Wings best work too (a much lower standard, admittedly).
Can I just love this album for what it is? That fantastical cover, the lads in those impossible satin outfits, Sgt Pepper is one of the greats. Oh, I can’t pick a fave, but ADITL, Lucy, Rita, Friends, Getting Better all classics.
