Best (or worst) Use of a Neil Diamond song in a movie?

What is the best use of a Neil Diamond song in a movie? Or, if you don’t like his music, the worst is ok too.

We just watched “Saving Silverman,” which went so far as to have Neil guest star, which was pretty cool.

The scene where R. Lee Ermey jumped out of the truck with his Uzi, with “Coming to America” playing in the background reminded me of a much better use of that song, which is my personal favorite: The scene in “Born in East L.A.” where Cheech brought the massive immigration of Mexicans over the ridge, overwhelming La Migra.

The other one that comes to mind was “Lost and Found” where David Spade impersonated Neil Diamond at a party (possibly the best scene in the movie).

So, what else is good? Any better vehicles for Mr. Diamond?

My husband and I cracked UP at that movie. I thought the wedding scene at the end where Neil was singing was too funny, especially the ‘you’re the hardcore b*tch I’ve always dreamed of’ line.

I"m not a big fan, but I liked Sweet Caroline in the underrated Beautiful Girls

Well, you know he did the entire soundtrack for Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Just when you thought ever possible "Best of " thread had been made…

Another vote here for Beautiful Girls. A great movie and a funny, uplifting, and even ‘cultish’ scene involving Sweet Caroline.

Does it have to be a Neil Diamond performance?

One of my favorite parts of the Pulp Fiction soundtrack is Urge Overkill doing “Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon.”

Not to mention “The Jazz Singer” remake in the early 80’s from which the “Coming to America” song comes from. (But the Lamo “Love on the Rocks” comes from this flick so I’m not suprised)

Yet again, a vote for Beautiful Girls.

Me too.
