I guess I will never be able to play Pinball Dreams/Fantasies again <looks sad and says ‘doh’>. Those were classics, and the music was unrivalled.
But I am sure there are still some good ones I can play on a modern PC. So what are they?

Check out Timeshock pinball. Extremely realistic!
Sam, are there any good low-cost software packages (M/S 2K compatible) for computer pinball table design?
I’ll second Pro Pinball: Timeshock. There’s another by the same folks, Pro Pinball: Big Race USA that’s equally good. Both titles are a few years old, so you may have to hunt around for them.
I don’t know of any pinball-design programs, but I sure would like to.
Sorry, I have no idea. I got Timeshock pinball last year, and thought it was fantastic. That’s the extent of my experience in computer pinball, other than the one Windows comes with. Which is also pretty good, btw.
If any of you also play M/S Space Cadet pinball, please check into my thread now running in this same forum.
Anything by Littlewing – hands down, the most realistic and rules-loaded electronic pinball games anywhere.
I have only recently found Visual Pinball, and Visual Pinball MAME (they’re a team).
Sweet heaping gobs of pinball goodness–wrapped around a nifty design program, to boot.

You may have to spend some time on the FAQ and install guides, as getting the thing up and running hasn’t been made the most user-friendly experience I’ve ever seen. But worth it.
There was a fun-at-the-time Pinball Construction Set put out by Electronic Arts for the Atari and Commodore years back. Still around, or on emulator?
Epic Pinball by Epic MegaGames, hands down. It was released in 1994 and I have yet to play another pinball sim that gets my fingers as numb. And yes, that’s the same Epic Games that makes Unreal Tournament 2003, but back when they were a shareware company like id Software.
Amazingly, you can still order the game online. And you can still download the first table as shareware (the best one of the bunch IMO): Super Android.
