Best pizza on the Vegas Strip?

Last year, I made it to Vegas for the first time after years of wanting to do, and I asked the Teeming Millions for their advice on a good steakhouse to visit. I ended up not taking that advice due to a scheduling screwup. However, since I’m going to be going to Vegas again in a few weeks, I’ve been looking over that thread again for ideas for this trip and I got another thought in my head. I’ve got a good idea of some of the places I want to eat at on my trip this time - I’ll be hitting the Heart Attack Grill and the Peppermill again, I want to do the Bacchanal buffet at Caesar’s, White Castle just opened its first western US outlet right on the Strip so I’ll probably have to check that out.

I haven’t heard of any good pizza places on the Strip, though. But I bet there’s some to be had. I’m not too picky about what style it is - New York slices, Chicago deep dish, some kind of weird California-style fusion pizza with bulgogi and avocado, I’m game. Can anyone who’s been to Vegas or lives in the area recommend a not-to-be-missed pizzeria on or near the Strip or Fremont, or which delivers to the Strip?

Grimaldi’s. Accept no other. Locations in Fashion Show Mall and Palazzo. Genuine New York pizza.

I asked this very question (more or less - I was limiting it to “by the slice” places) on the Las Vegas forum at Chowhound.

My favorite is downtown; Pizza Rock, one block north of the Fremont Hotel (and across the street from the Downtown Grand).

Here’s one that I like that’s on the Strip, but I can’t think of its name…oh wait, that’s because it doesn’t have a name. (It’s usually called Secret Pizza.) There’s no mention whatsoever, either at the hotel or on its website, that it exists; to find it, you take the escalator to the third floor, and you look for what appears to be a hallway with photos/album covers along one wall.

Umm… what hotel or is that secret too?

Not directly related, but skip White Castle and go to Shake Shack instead (which also just opened). Or do both. Just make sure Shake Shack happens!

Can’t I do both, like the late Earl Warren?

Cosmopolitan. It’s ok, but not great.

I think the Secret Pizza is definitely going to have to be a stop on my itinerary this year.

Since the consensus thus far seems to be towards New York slices, does anyone perhaps know of a good Chicago/California/Neapolitan/fusion pizza place on the Strip? I’m not saying I’ll visit it this time, but I very well may.

Five50 at Aria, Enoteca Otto at Venetian, Spago at Caesars, La Cave at Wynn. All will do you a mutant pie to die for.

Agreed. If its anywhere near as good as his place in SanFrancisco, run there. You can even take classes by the master.

All of the Grimaldi’s locations in Las Vegas suck. Don’t eat there.

The New York Pizzeria at New York New York is very good NY style pizza. If you were going off the strip, I’d recommend other places (Angelina’s or Napoli), but on the strip, that’s prolly the best NY style pizza.

ETA: How do I know? I live here.

Big deal. I bet I eat at Grimaldi’s more often than you do.

No bet.

Not on the strip (and not sure they are even still around) but two places I used to love were the 4 Keg’s and Carboni’s (especially the latter…the guy was from New York and made a great thin crust, wood fired and square cut pizza). It’s been years though since I was in Vegas, so no idea if either is still around.

Just made it to the secret pizzeria this afternoon and it was pretty good. In terms of crust, cheese, and sauce it was pretty much the same to the slices I’m used to getting from Old School pizza in Olympia, but the big difference is the quality of the toppings. The pepperoni slices are huge and the sausage has a lot of flavor, and you could certainly do worse for a quick bite to eat on that part of the Strip. I could barely finish my two slices (possibly because I’d just done White Castle a few hours earlier).

The only downside is that the slices were WAY too greasy.
