Best proof the earth isn't flat

The problem with that observation is how do we know that it’s because there are fewer flerfs and not because the places on the internet flerfs inhabit is not the places Dr. Blitz et al. are looking for flerf engagement from?

Simply, maybe, all the flerfs are on Rumble and BitChute and Dr. Blitz et al. are on YouTube and TikTok.

I’ll note, my observation of another group is that they move regularly. I’ve seen that group move from: Paltalk and Stickam to YouTube then to Discord then to whatever hot new platform that has the fewest rules.

Sure. It’s not a claim I’d bet my life savings on, just an observation / opinion from someone who has been following this for years as a guilty pleasure.

Maybe I’m not looking in the right places for flerfers? Sure, it’s possible.

I heard him say that also. But I think you are correct, since this is a decrease from previous levels - so the “right” people were finding him.
Given the vitriol Jeronism got from leaving the Flat Earth after TFE I don’t think the visible ones are trolls. We’re working on Aritificial Intelligence, but we’ve got plenty of Natural Stupidity already.

As a hijack since the main topic has petered out, but: I would watch the hell out of a flat earth feature film. I mean where the earth genuinely is flat.

From googling, there’s one feature film that references flat earth in development, but it seems more like a love story between two people who merely think the world is flat.

The problem with that is that you’d have to create a consistent flat earth model, something the flerfs have not come up with yet. On this earth, at least.

Scientific Consistency? in a MOVIE? It would be one of the first.

I think there have been a couple of shows that captured part of that anyway -

Star Trek, SNW - Season 4 episode Once La’an a Time - the planet/thing they are on is shown as a flat planet - turns out, of course, its a space ship.

The Orville - If the Stars should Appear - The crew encounters a ‘generational ship’ where the inhabitants have forgotten they are on a ship - its pretty flat inside and I’ll bet if you asked them they would call the planet they are on flat.

MCU movies - Asgard itself is presented as a ‘flatish’ planet thing -

Thanks for those references.

I guess on The Orville also was the episode where they encounter the species in 2D space.

But, thinking about it, the thing that would make a flat earth movie great IMO is the worldwide conspiracy; breathtaking in its scale and absurdity.

In itself, the topology of our world doesn’t matter much. I mean – yes, obviously with what we know about gravity a non (oblate-)spherical planet as big as our earth would be unstable in one way or another. But putting aside such implications, and imagining magic gravity or whatever, it wouldn’t matter a toss if our world was rhomboid.

Haven’t several of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books been filmed? How did they handle the world or did they just ignore the issue, since it wouldn’t make any real difference inside a city.

Mostly they did an establishing shot of Discworld, but they did make a movie of “The Color of Magic” which I seem to remember has the garbage collector at the edge of the disk.

The World is Round is a novel that has an interesting take on it. It’s mostly set on an artificial “planet” 50 times the diameter of Earth with an extremely slow rotation, with the result that the offworld protagonists have a lot of trouble proving the roundness of the world to the locals because the usual proofs work poorly. Ships sinking below the horizon? Nope, they fade away first into the atmospheric haze because the curve of the world is so low. The behavior of the stars? What are stars? Only suicidal people would try to go out at night, the temperatures are far too low to survive.

That book is by Tony Rothman, better known for his popular science books.
