Best Responses to New Atheists

I’m looking to read responses to the New Atheists, whether they be articles or books.

Two questions:

  1. What are the most popular responses?

  2. In your opinion, what are some of the best responses?

What are we talking about here?

ETA: OH. I see that New Atheism is a specific movement. As this is CS, I was thinking maybe it was a band or something.

Wrong forum maybe? Or are we talking about “How to cook New Atheists?”

The secret is to braise the meat.

I would have thought that was only necessary for old Atheists. Good thing I checked the SDMB first!

Welcome! What took you so long?

Of course, I’m an old atheist (in the sense that I’ve been one a long time). I think it’s long past due that we stopped coddling superstitious nonsense.

No one bats an eye if belief in Santa or Ra is mocked.

Spectre of Pithecanthropus moved my post about Terry Eagleton’s book – a response to the New Atheists – here to the Cafe Society, so I figured this is the right place for asking this question. We’re supposed to discuss literature too, wot?

You’d better watch what you say about Ra…

You’re right.

:stuck_out_tongue:

and

“That makes a lot of sense!”

or

“Tell me more.”

“How could I have believed that crap? Thanks!”
“Obviously, I should have paid attention in science class.”

Are New Atheists anything like New Math?

Seems like this is more a GD kind of topic, maybe IMHO, but not Cafe Society.

I’ll lock this one and you can start a new thread (sans jokes) in the correct forum.
