Best scanner for less than $500?

We are trying to go paperless in our office for 2013. We are also trying to put all of the old files into the cloud.

Right now we use googledocs for a lot of our stuff.

I need a scanner that can scan both sides, have automatic document feeder, can scan papers and photos, and be compatible with google. It would be nice to have it uploaded in one tidy job folder package.

Any suggestions, or better way to go about this?

It’s hard to go wrong with a Fujitsu SnapScan S1500 - it’s just about the default “paperless office” scanner and sells for a bit over $400. Seemingly every “office management” system for industries like health care or insurance knows how to work with Fujitsu scanners.

You could also look at the Canon imageFORMULA DR-C125. (Who dreams up these names?!) It’s about $50 less, but doesn’t have nearly as long a history at being an office workhorse.

Probably the most significant difference between these two is that the Canon has a TWAIN driver and the Fujitsu does not. This may make the Canon a better pick for you.

Thanks so much for your response, looking them up now.
