Best shape for dry dog food bowl

I have never encountered that problem. Messy eaters, yes, but then they go find and eat every morsel and molecule within a mile radius, then go see if any of the other dogs has missed a bite somewhere. Maybe you feed too much?

Perhaps try feeding them out of a puzzle toy? Lots of them available and they make the dog work hard to get each bite of food so they are more likely to value the food and not toss it around. Here’s one, tons of other ones: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038WP1XS/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_3?pf_rd_p=1944687442&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0038WP1YC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0WMY4MBFDVJVR9TXDW48

Well, unless they are my hound who figured out the fastest way to get the food out of most of these toys is to pick the toy up and repeatedly whack it against the wall, but she eats everything that goes flying out.

UPDATE.

I had still been having a problem with crunchies all over the kitchen floor. To be honest, even though I originally posted about the shape of the bowl, I really didn’t think (in my heart of hearts) that that was the issue. Even so, I tried several different-shaped bowls to no avail.

But last week I was at Tuesday Morning and saw a bowl like this and decided to give it a try. Sloped outsides, flat bottom, slightly curved interior with rounded “corner,” rubber gasket around the outside to keep it from sliding. I bought two, brought them home, and put dog food in them.

No more kibble on the floor. It’s been about five days. Not one piece.

Well you just sole me. My three huge babies are the sloppiest eaters and drinkers imaginable and I’ve tried everything - or thought I had. Right now their bowls are on a boot caddy with 1" high sides all around and they still manage to get more stuff on the floor than in their mouths.

The bowls are like this one.

Before clicking on this thread, I was going to say my dogs seem to prefer eating off the floor! (No bowl)

As for that, imagine if people were like dogs. We would go into a restaurant, be served a steak on a dish, then throw it on the floor and gobble it up!

^ Hey, three second rule!

This thread keeps surfacing, and I just can’t resist:

I have to say that the best shape for a dog bowl would be concave.

Three days in dog years.
