Best Soda/Pop That Isn't Made Anymore

Whenever I found Blue Creme Nehi, I would buy out the whole stock of that particular store.

Yep - we still have it here. Also, in the last year or two, they introduced Diet Ale-8-1. I switched to it immediately, since I really don’t like drinks with sugar in them anymore.

I think the drink I miss most is the Coke of my childhood, which was made with real sugar rather than corn syrup. (I’m 45, so the cocaine had disappeared decades earlier…) And for whatever reason the 7 oz bottles seemed to always be stronger than the other containers (even though we were all assured that this was not the case).

      • All of them. All the ones that used to have real sugar and lots of caffiene in them.

-I did read online somewhere that apparently, Coca-Cola in Mexico is still made with real sugar–and there is a growing market in the US of transplanted Mexicans who pay higher prices for the imported stuff…

I saw it in Hometown Grocery in Little Rock. Cases stacked in the corner
Perhaps when step-plant returns to NH she can take a couple of cases as carry on.

Seven Up Gold. I’ve not seen it in years.

My cherry coke may have been Big Red.
There was a Frost Root Beer soda joint on Broadway when I was a pup.
Used to go there after the movies. They frosted the mugs.

Another wish for New York Seltzer (especially vanilla cream… sigh).

And (and this is going to be an unpopular choice) OK soda. Not to drink it, of course - it was completely horrid. But I loved the OK soda ad campaign so much - the commercials, the print/magazines, the phone tie-ins. It was wonderful…I kept buying it just on the hopes that I’d learn to like it, I wanted to reward the ad company and the brand for doing such an excellent job.

I loved the Citra soda that Coke had several years ago. It was a grapefruit based soda and wonderful tasting! I knew it was doomed, anything I like that much is sure to be taken off the market soon.

Doomed, I tell you, we’re…doomed.

Frostie Root Beer was awesome.

Birch Beer is available in St Louis. Don’t know if it is any good though, since I have never tried it.

Is Fresca available anywhere? I got hooked on it during a trip to Mexico and haven’t seen it anywhere in the States since. (Not that I’ve been taking any cross-country trips looking for Fresca, but darnit, that stuff should be everywhere. So goooood.)

I have to give props to OK Cola. It was a funky combination of cola, orange and Dr. Pepper-esque favor. Very unique, and I miss it…

Old Abe Root Beer…

As far as I know never came in cans, just bottles. Blew Dog N Suds away.

Fresca? Available in run-of-the-mill convenience stores around Boston.

Pepsi Blue, and s’more love for OK Cola. There was a number printed on every can of OK Cola: 1-800-I-FEEL-OK. Calling would get you a seductive voice asking if you felt OK, with options for yes or no. From there, you could do a number of other wonderful things. Hours of entertainment. The world needs more colas with toll-free promo hotlines.

Fresca? It was available all over the place in Missouri. Shouldn’t be too hard to get ahold of, one way or another.

I recall having 7up Gold once and liking it. I was just a wee thing at the time. Wasn’t it 7up Gold that made them drop the “never had it, never will” slogan?

Another vote for OK Cola. When I was a kid, we used to make these things we called “suicides” which consisted of mixing together a bunch of randomly different soft drinks in one cup. OK tasted like a suicide in a can.

I’m intrigued that three of the four OK Cola lovers are from Minnesota… maybe the desolate winters give us a need for reassuring cola…

im probably the only person in the world who misses this soda but i thought that surge was awesome and i miss it very much :frowning:

Actual Cherry Coke (the Coca Cola one). I’m sure that’s still being made, but haven’t seen it in Europe for years. Is it still commonly available in the States?

I haven’t seen Canfields Cola in years. They made chocolate flavored cola. It was pretty good once you got used to the idea of fizzy chocolate.

I guess it’s still around though.
