Best song off of Kill Uncle?

A solid, if not spectacular, follow up to Viva Hate. Around this time is when Morrissey added Alain Whyte and Boz Boorer (of the Polecats) to his backing band and started moving in a decidedly rockabilly fashion. This was a very, very good thing. My favorite song on this album would probably have to be “Sing Your Life”, though “Mute Witness”, “Found Found Found”, and “There’s a Place in Hell for Me and My Friends” come awfully close.

You?

This is easily one of the most reviled Morrissey albums and it’s easy to see why. After the genius of Viva Hate and Bona Drag, this is a minor album with a relatively poor first single, “Our Frank.”

I like Sing Your Life and Hell but there’s nothing on this album that speaks to my soul like Viva Hate or Bona Drag. I chose the goofy King Leer because it’s fun and unloved.

Kill Uncle has the bad luck of falling right in the middle of four of the best albums of all time: Viva, Bona, Your Arsenal, and Vauxhall. It also continues the tradition of having one racially uncomfortable song per album: Bengali on Viva, Asian Rut on this one, and National Front on Arsenal.
