Best Sweded films on the web?

I’m writing an article for the blog I’m working for on the effect that Be Kind Rewind has had on inspiring young filmmakers. I want to include some examples of independently “sweded” films. I’ve found some great ones on youtube–the best so far are the Dark Knight and Top Gun ones. But can you guys post your favorites here, so I can be sure not to have missed any?

Any thoughts on the general topic are appreciated as well.

It predates BKRw, but this is probably the most high-profile example out there (and I’d argue, possibly just as big an inspiration as the Gondry film).

Definitely. I planned to mention this in the article. (BTW, have you ever tried to watch this? I will pay you $100 if you can do it without the FF button.)

Link your post when you make it? I’m intrigued.

I blog under my first name, charley, at showmeyourindies.com.

Do the works of Brandon Hardesty count as Sweded films?:

There’s this version of Star Wars, although I’ll admit I’ve only watched a few scenes.

I saw it in the theater (and met the 3 guys in the process), so no FF option available–though I clearly liked it more than you.

ya know, I loved Be Kind, Rewind

After watching Top Gun, I’m thinking sweding involves a certain - does this make sense - ironic reverence. The cardboard props, etc., can be funny, but you can’t kid the story. That has to be relatively straight, even though very compressed. No fair introducing your own content, or blatantly kidding the original. A swede is an homage, not a takeoff.

Have I got this about right?

I love this version of Jurassic Park. The soundtrack really makes it, but I also have a soft spot for the dino that eats Nedry and the velociraptors.

I think that’s pretty close. At bottom it’s a remake, only within the constraints of having no money and no time.
