This tea is like ambrosia. It tastes hickory-smoked, swear to God, and while that may sound revolting, it actually tastes quite wonderful.
Anyone else got a favorite tea? I am also partial to Earl Grey for its hint of bergamot.

Smoky teas can actually be quite nice. Ever tried Lapsang Souchong? As to which is my favorite, it’s probably a toss-up between Earl Grey and Jasmine. For a high-octane tea, I recently tried one called Camel’s Breath. It’s fermented and aged. Comes in a pellet form and I gotta say, it’s pretty potent stuff. I usually drink somewhat milder teas, like the greens. Really grassy, quite nice.
I’m partial to Irish breakfast tea. Japanese popcorn tea is fun too.
Yikes! My favorite tea is the Smokey Russian sold by WholeFoods. Here in NC it’s Wellspring Grocery. I’ve eased off of it in the past month in favor of… Earl Grey. But I really miss my Smokey Russian. Damn, MsWhatsit, Yer scarin’ me!
Never had Camel’s Breath, but it sounds like it’s similar to Imperial Gunpowder. Hand rolled leaves and all that.
I never liked the smoked teas. I always felt like I should be pouring it on a plate of ribs instead of drinking it with a scone.
My fav is Earl Grey. I’ve made a passable substitute by adding bee balm (Monarda spp.) to black tea. It’s not related to true Bergamot but has a similar flavor.

What can I say, elelle, you have good taste!
Seriously, when I moved to Seattle from Chicago I didn’t know if they had Whole Foods out here, and if they didn’t, I was going to have one of my friends back in Chicago ship me about ten canisters of Smoky Tea.
I will have to check out lapsang souchong. I am trying to branch out beyond my usual favorites.
Mmmmmmm…tea…I love tea…
I’m fond of Lapsang Souchong myself, but I have to be in the mood for it. Some Earl Grey teas are nice; some overdo the bergamot and are undrinkable.
Saturday I actually spent 20 minutes debating the merits of various types of Oolongs with a teashop assistant, finally settling on a nice White Rose oolong. I must be getting pretentious in my old age…
My husband likes Lapsang Souchong - I’m not a fan of it.
I do, however, LOVE Earl Gray. Republic of Tea makes an excellent one.
I have yet to find one Tazo Tea that I like though. Is this just me? I’ve tried a number of their teas and have not been impressed.
I agree, the Tazo teas do nothing for me. Besides which, they have stupid names, imho. Although it may just be that herbal teas in general leave me cold. I like my tea black (or green, but mostly black).
The one exception is chamomile, which always cheers me up when I’m feeling sick.
My favs are Lady Grey (a sumptuous blend of oriental teas, Seville orange and lemon peel, flavored with a hint of Bergamot), China Black and something my old coffeehouse used to carry…Snowmonkeyplum. (I was just going to ask if anyone had ever heard of this, then I remembered my friend Google.com, where I found more than a thousand links in .12 seconds. Joy!)
