Best Texas Hold 'Em hand EVER.

The niftiest hand I ever saw was on an online .01/.02 cent table, with a 250$ daily high hand jackpot on the site. There were two players in this drama, the Maniac and the Sensible Guy.

The Maniac always raised. No matter what he had, or the flop, or what the opponent did. I believe he had lost his mind. The Sensible guy played reasonably tight the whole time, never over extending, generally patient.

The deal:
Maniac raises in early position. 6 players fold. Sensible calls him in middle position.

The flop
KH 10H JH
Maniac raises 1 penny. Sensible calls. Since Sensible is so sensible I figure he has either a pair or a straight flush draw. Maniac can have anything.
The Turn
KH 10H JH 9H
Maniac raises 2 cents. Sensible calls. At this point Sensible has to have at least a flush, right? Because this man is the Rock of Gibraltar.

The River
KH 10H JH 9H 8H
Maniac raises 2 cents. Sensible types out “This is stupid, but I just have to know.” And he calls.

A brief interlude here: A standard rule for High Hand Jackpots is that the hand must make it to a showdown. If you had a good hand and everyone folded it may as well never have happened. This is important.

Maniac flips over AH QH. He flopped a 64000 to 1 royal, an instant entry into the high hand if he could just make it past the river. In addition he achieved the almost unheard of feat of a seven card straight flush. A hand to tell grandkids about. A hand that assured him of the 250$ high hand jackpot for the day, playing .01/.02 poker. And he bets with it. Twice. To win an additional 5 cents. With 250$ on the line.

Sensible flips over 8D 9D. He was playing the board. If it wasn’t for his curiosity Maniac would have finished + .06 cents, instead of +250.06.

That was the craziest hand I ever saw.

Whoops, the odds are about 64K to 1 that the first 5 cards he sees are a royal. The odds the the first three cards he sees post flop make him a royal are considerably less. Around 20K to 1, I think.

Well, if you mean “raise” and not “bet” then I can sort of justify the Maniac’s play up until the river. If he raises every hand and suddenly changes his pattern that might set off an alarm for Sensible. Any bet on the river, though, is ridiculous.

Please give full quotes. I said:

“On your original hand, I would have been a bit embarrassed by the fact (as Duke of Rat said) that you could have been beaten. We all lose sometimes, but trapping on such a hand, calling over a friend and having fits of giggles is premature. Imagine if you’d lost!

Oh, I understood you. I just think the guy should be embarrassed for acting like an ass, not because his hand could have been beaten.

Ah, that’s a good point.
