If you’re looking strictly for unintentional gold, then I’m going to go with the new trailer for Final Destination 14, or whatever they’re up to now. When the Car Wash brush is coming at the person’s head sticking out of the sunroof…oh God, I’m tearing up just thinking about it! And the look of abject fear on the person’s face…
Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte hasn’t aged well My son & my sister rolled all over the floor when I showed it to them. It terrified me as a young teen!. I don’t know how to do spoilers so lets just say special effects have improved a lot since then!
I’m pretty sure Troll 2 will always win this discussion. It’s on Hulu if interested, but it’s definitely best watched in a theatre surrounded by people who think it’s hilarious.
The Killer Shrews doesn’t seem to be intentionally funny, but it is funny. How can a movie where one of the major plot devices is walls made of clay for no reason not be humorous?
I went on a MST3K binge a while ago, and the best unintentionally funny premise was Final Sacrafice. One word: Candians.
You see, there was this lost Atlantis-y city of premordial Canadians (not Native American Canadians, mind you- there people were there before them) and it was all happy and shiny and rich and wonderful. Except, because of some evil cult or evil god or something, it sank into the ground, and no sign was left of the Lost Canadians, except for the cult. Which is trying to get Not-Atlantis back, or maybe they’re making it stay sunk, I’m not sure. So fast-foward to the present, and you’ve got this evil cult of ancient Canadians trying to sacrafice some people or other to their evil Canadian god. And they nearly kill the heros, but then the heros defeat them and raise up the amazing shining Canadian Atlantis.
Hey - I was traumatised TRAUMATISEDI tells ya by this movie ( I had to be 5 or 6 at the time) and you never know what unintentional side effects stuff like that can have.
Y’all do know that there will be a one-time-only Rifftrax Live “performance” of Plan 9 From Outer Space, featuring the MST3K guys, in digital movie theaters around the country TONIGHT, Thursday, Aug. 20, right?
And yes, it will really be live, except on the West Coast.
Robot Monster is the best bad movie I’ve ever seen. The monster is a guy in a gorilla suit with a diving bell helmet. There’s an infamous scene where the monster comes to wipe out the last few remaining hu-mans on earth. The scene intercuts the monster walking along a canyon floor with the hu-mans awaiting their destruction. This goes on for several minutes of screen time - the monster walks and walks and walks and walks and walks and walks. Then he walks some more, followed by more walking. Every so often the movie includes footage of dinosaurs fighting for no particular reason - these scenes have nothing to do with the plot. And these are the good parts of the movie.
This is playing right across the street from my house. It’s a <5 minute walk. But due to scheduling conflicts I can’t go!!!
I’m totally bummed, and I only hope it will become available for viewing sometime after the live performance. (Have previous RiffTrax films been shown again after the fact?)
