Best UTV for hauling equipment

We own a cabin on a lake. It’s ~350 feet down a modestly sloped dirt path to get to our dock. Each weekend my husband hauls our paddle board, life jackets, coolers, and a 15 gallon gas tank (on wheels) down the hill, and then back up the hill when we’re ready to leave.

He’s going to be 55 this year, and he’s finally conceded that a golf cart or UTV would be very handy. So I’m hoping to surprise him with one for his birthday in a few weeks.

Personally, I think a UTV would make more sense because it can get muddy in the spring, though my husband says that a decent golf cart would have no problems. He thinks golf carts are a lot cheaper than UTVs, but frankly I’m not finding that.

I’m looking at Polaris, Honda and Kawasaki, but have no idea what model would be sufficient for our needs. We won’t be off-roading but he might want to haul our jet ski up the hill (~600 lbs) if the UTV is capable. I’m hoping to spend less than $10,000.

Any UTV owners want to weigh in?

Thank you.

If moving this stuff is the main concern, something like a lawn tractor with a trailer would do the trick at about a quarter to a third of your budget, and might be handy if it can be used for yard work around the cabin. If recreation is expected from this item, the UTV is the way to go (and is a far better birthday gift). No experience with them though, I just wanted to mention the alternative of the lawn tractor.

It’s hard to go wrong with a John Deere Gator.

Also curious if some sort of winch would do the trick.
