Best way to clean stainless steel appliance

I just got a stainless steel fridge. The guy who installed it said not to use glass cleaner on it, that I should use stainless steel cleaner or I could damage the finish.

How the heck do you damage stainless steel unless you’re spraying acid on it? Today I used Windex Surface Cleaner which has no ammonia. I use it on my granite countertops, and it did a great job on the fridge.

Anyway, what do my fellow Dopers think is the best way to clean it?

I just use regular windex, haven’t had issues with damaging the finish.

I have a stainless steel toaster, and I clean it with my Method multi-surface cleaner without problems. I clean my stainless steel sink with Bon Ami. Never had a problem with either surface. I think salesmen are supposed to make this recommendation to try to create a market for specialized cleaners. They do this also with hardwood floors.
