Best way to effect this travel plan in Tokyo

I would like to get from NRT to a hotel and then, the next day, get from that hotel to HND.

One option is to pick any random hotel near NRT and just use the Airport Limousine bus service the next morning to do NRT–>HND. However, this involves an NRT-hotel-NRT loop that I’d rather leave out. It looks like the Airport Limousine bus also serves some hotels. Any recommendations there? Or, do you have a completely different approach I should consider? Feel free to ramble on about good and bad options…

Thanks!

This looks like the best web page talking about getting between both airports and talks about hotels near Haneda. Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND)

So I think you could do Narita to Haneda and then there are hotels listed close to Haneda that have shuttle services to/from the airport.

I can make recommendations.

What times are your flights?

What’s your budget for hotels?

I arrive at NRT at around 4:30 PM. I depart HND at around 1:40 PM the next day.

I would expect to pay US$70 to US$130 for a hotel, but I’m not planning to be terribly picky about this hotel, as it will just be a place to sleep after a long day. I’m mostly looking to optimize ground transportation (convenience 1st, time 2nd, and cost 3rd [as long as it isn’t fractionally too much more than the cheapest options]). Also, a more expensive hotel would be okay especially if there’s some transportation convenience that I would gain.

Ideally I’d stay near NRT so that I can quickly head to bed after my inbound flight and because I’ll have plenty of time to kill the next day as I make my way to HND. However, I could also continue on to the HND area on the first day if that just makes more sense. (It’ll be very late on my internal clock when I land, though, so a quick trip to a comfy bed is attractive.)

(Also: thanks for that link pudytat72. I’ll give it a good looking at tomorrow morning…)

My recommendation is to go into Shinagawa and stay at the Prince Hotel

http://www.princehotels.com/en/ They’ve got rooms about 10,000 yen. ($125) and English speaking staff.

You can get a airport limousine bus directly to there from Narita and another directly to Hanada in the morning.

It’s in between the airports.

Take KEISEI Line train from NARITA Airport to NIPPORI Station (60-70min, 1,000yen). Nippori is in north Tokyo.

Stay at the TOKIWA HOTEL (across the street from NIPPORI station). Rates range from US$65-95 a night.

Next day, take YAMANOTE line train to HAMAMATSUCHO Station and change to TOKYO MONORAIL (30-35min, 500yen).

The monorail takes you to HANEDA Airport.

Fine, except if you’ve got luggage.

Beautiful – thanks! I’ll look at this info over the weekend. (Of course, folks should feel free to keep adding to the thread in the meantime.)

I should have mentioned: my luggage is a small carry-on bag and a laptop bag. (It’s a short trip.)

Returning to this thread… I finally found time to look through the recommendations properly.

First: thanks!

Second: do you have any recommendations that minimize time between landing in NRT and lying in a bed? I have gobs of free time on Monday to make my way to HND, so ideally I would stay in a hotel very near NRT (but without giving up ease-of-transport to HND the next day) and then I’d be rested for the journey to HND.

So, I’d be delighted to hear suggested itineraries that include this constraint.

(This would all be easier if Airport Limousine would show me a map of the routes and stops for the lines that connect to the airports. I envision (perhaps incorrectly) that there is a bus that travels from NRT outbound, past Hotel X, and then continues to HND. If this bus line exists, I’d want the earliest hotel on the route.)

Out of curiosity: what would a taxi cost for all this? (NRT-to-hotel + hotel-to-NHD)
