Best way to get to Fenway coming fron the Northwest of Boston?

I’m going to be in Brattleboro, VT for a couple weeks in August for work, and one evening I’d like to go down to Fenway and catch a Red Sox game, if possible. I’ll get done work at around 4:00 PM, and the games start just after 7.

Here’s the google maps route.

Now, I’d prefer to park somewhere outside the city and take the T or commuter rail in, if possible. I just did a quick look for the rail out of Worcester, but I don’t think I can get there in time before it leaves. The P530 leaves at 5:35 and gets to Yawkey (which I think is the stop I’d want?) just before 7. But then, would I be able to get back when the game is over?

Is there a T station I can drive to and park at? I imagine that driving all the way in would be too long, what with traffic and all, and be too pricey with parking.

Drive to Alewife, take the Red line to Park, transfer to the Green to Kenmore.

Or, drive to Riverside and take the Green Line to Kenmore.

Practice.

This. It’ll save you from having to transfer and is actually pretty fast except for this morning, those bastards.

Even better if you can get to Newton Center and find someplace to park there.

Yawkey Station is actually a farther walk than Kenmore. Telemark is right.

Is it? I always wondered why so many people got off there.

But it’s not called Yawkey, it’s called Fenway.

Fewer people, and depending on which gate you’re going in it could be slightly shorter or about the same. The Kenmore stop is a zoo just before game time.

Another vote for parking at Riverside and taking the D line in.

As for Yawkey vs Fenway, I think he means the ephemeral Yawkey “station” on the Worcester/Framingham commuter rail line that only exists before and after Red Sox home games. They basically stop the train and make you climb down into gravel and walk across a parking lot to Yawkey Way.

I haven’t gotten off at that “station” for several years, though, so it may be less primitive these days.

If you do think that parking in Worcester is a good idea, make sure you remember that not all trains go all the way to Worcester. The last Worcester train leaves Yawkey around 10:30 on weekdays, so you’ll probably miss part of the game.
