Heh, the orbital goat cannon reminds me of a whimsical scientific D&D thread… I don’t remember where exactly. Either on the Order of the Stick forum or the Wizards of the Coast one.
The basic idea was that, since passing an item to another character is a free (hence, instantaneous) action, a long line of peasants passing a pig along constituted a rail gun, as the pig was accelerated to insane speeds over a single round (i.e. 10 seconds). The math was solid, too. As the thread grew on, they found the precise pig-line length to achieve planet busting power as per impact damage rules.
