Ok, this is getting somewhat annoying. I have Norton’s Internet Security2008 and lately when I click on a post here, IS will block it and say it a suspicious website. I can understand the occassional site, but it’s been happening 1-2 posts daily now. Exactly how do these companies determine what is a suspicious site and what on SD would cause it to think it was?
I used to be a real fan of Norton products, back when Peter Norton did them. But since he left and the big company took over, they have become increasingly bloated & ineffective, tend to interfere with other things, are hard to remove, and use unscrupulous sales tactics (like automatic renewals charged to your credit card).
I no longer use Norton products, and advise others to avoid them.
Let me second (or third) that about Norton’s. I used to be a happy user of Norton back in Dos days, but their Windows product is just awful. Worse than a virus. I bought a new computer recently, and Norton’s came embedded. I tried it for a few days and intrusive isn’t the word. It shut things down to a crawl. Uninstalled it and went back to one of the free ones, which has worked just fine - although a month or so ago I did get Bit Defender, mostly to see if it were any better than a freebie. The jury is still out.
I agree with everyone here, Norton is not worth the money. AVG Free is great for anti virus, and Online Armour is a great free firewall, scoring very high on Matousec’s security tests. I have found that having a separate AV and firewall is best.
