Whenever my life needs a little kick back to the right side of perspective, I pick up a couple books that always make me feel better:

**Donbas - Jacques Sandalesque ** - the story of a 15 yr old boy captured by the Russians in WW2 in Rumania and sent to work in a Soviet coal mine in the Donbas region (Siberia, I think) and his survival and escape.

**Night - Elie Weisel ** - tale of a jewish boy surviving a variety of Death Camps in WW2. This boy went on to win the Nobel Prize for peace in the 80’s.

Yeah, Lautreamont’s Les Chants de Maldoror does the same for me.
