What network ran the old Bicentennial Moments PSA back in 1976? Please tell me Im not the only one who remembers these.
I thought they all did. And it was “Bicentennial Minutes” – each spot ran about 60 seconds, detailing something that happened on that date 200 years previously.
I was trying to put together something similar for our home town during the Bicentennial, but not enough interesting things happenede there, even if you didn’t restrict it to 200 years ago.
I am fairly sure it was CBS, as I seem to recall Uncle Walter doing a number of them.
i enjoyed those.
A “today in history” feature would go over well, today.
Bicentennial Minutes ran on CBS. They were interesting. I kinda agree with Bosda that a “This Day In History” feature would be great to see.
NY1, a local cable channel, has a daily “This Day in History”, about a minutes’ worth of things that happened in NYC on that date (in various years, from the 1600s to the 1970s). So the tradition lives on a bit.
I remember those Moments too, and the painted fire hydrants, and going down to Battery Park to see the first Op Sail.
