I was biking early on the 4th, on Murfreesboro’s Greenway exercise trail, admiring a beautiful heron, & marveling in the cool, moist morning air, alongside the Stones River. Pure serenity.
I was going a little too fast, & hit a slippery mud puddle.
WIPEOUT!
And I found myself laying on my back in the mud.
Tranquillity to “Oh my back!” in 2.5 seconds. :smack:
The bike’s OK ($250 well spent, a cheap Wallymarket bike would have been junk),
but I’ve got skinned knees & hands, & every bone in my body aches.
But I’ll live. HEY! Always wear your friggin helmet!
Yes you heard right, I was riding along when I lost control. My bike started to fall and then through instinctive body movements I ended up running instead of riding. So the bike fell but I didn’t.
And there was the earlier time when I decided to copy what the cool kids were doing and use my foot on the wheel to stop the bike. I used the front wheel, it worked a little too well because the bike stopped rather more suddenly than expected.
Just gives one a renewed appreciation of just how much skinned knees hurt, eh? I manage to remember this about every five years, just when I get to that grownup ‘bah, suck it up, you’re fine’ attitude towards the kidlets skinning themselves.
I wish you speedy healing and lots of that spray on NuSkin stuff!
