Congratulations! Wishing you continued success.
Ten pounds a month is pretty damned good. How are you doing it?
Scarlett, new WW convert
Going from unhealthy lifestyle to healthy lifestyle makes it all shed off.
Friends of mine who eat healthy and exercise and still want to lose weight are asking me for tips and I don’t know what to tell them because the fact of the matter is that, prior to my “Damn it I gotta do something about this” moment in January, I was not eating healthy and I was doing zero exercise. The major change in lifestyle lead to major weight loss. So, I don’t know what to tell people who want to lose weight when they already lead a healthy lifestyle.
For those who don’t lead a lifestyle, I’ve stumbled upon no secrets. I’ve just been doing what I know I should have been doing all along. I actually always made healthy meals, but I also always ate lots between meals- cake, candy, chips- I really love junkfood and I’m all about desserts. So, I haven’t changed my meal routine at all, I’ve just stopped eating junk in between meals.
Also, I’m very good friends with Mr. Alcohol. We used to meet up several times a week. In the past three months I’ve had probably just about 4 or 5 drinks a month.
I haven’t done anything extreme for exercise, haven’t started going to the gym or really done any working out. My neighborhood is at the top of a pretty steep hill. It is a little more than a mile from my apartment to the bottom of the hill. So, for the past three months I have, twice a day, walked down the hill then back up the hill- two roundtrips a day=a little more than four miles a day, half of which is uphill.
So, that’s it. Pretty mundane. No great mystery.
Definitely feeling better.
Shooting for another 10lbs still. Thinking I’ll be happy to allow myself to fluctuate between 150 and 155.
That sounds about right. I’m also 5’7" (approaching 42) and my initial goal is to hit 150. If I can lose a bit more after that, great. I was 135 throughout high school and college.
Congratulations! Small changes and gradual loss are the easiest to maintain.
Great job! You must be feeling good about yourself, and feeling healthy. It’s a great feeling, isn’t it?
Just wanted to add that I was really surprised how much weight can be lost by cutting back or cutting out the booze. I went on the wagon for Lent and with no other dietary or lifestyle changes, dropped about 5 lbs in 6 weeks. OK, that’s not much, but I was fairly slim to begin with, and wasn’t necessarily trying to lose weight. I just wanted to stop drinking, and was pleasantly surprised by the added bonus of lost weight from not taking in those calories.
Stay strong and stay healthy.
Thanks for the inspiration. I’m on the same path as you (although starting at a higher initial weight) and can only hope to have the same success.
Yeah, there’s something very unjust about that.
