Big Ass Collage -> fill gap in Minn. MZ Twin Study

This is a version of what I once posted on GQ.

I just noticed the Big Ass Collage of faces of the Teeming Millions.

My first question is this:

Is it possible for someone to create a website with such a collage, BUT ALSO that whoever submits their image should then be able to maneuver it in the same way that people maneuver desktop icons?

Because, if that’s possible, then it should be possible to create a website which can bridge the gap left by Dr. Bouchard’s & Segal’s study on MZ twins separated at birth.

They studied MZ and fraternal twins. I.E. they studied

(1) MZ-gene-related, NON environmental-related lookalikes and
(2) gene-related, NON environmental-related non-lookalikes.

They did NOT study doppelgangers.

I.E. NON environmental-related lookalikes, who people may THINK are NON gene-related but who may ACTUALLY BE gene-related. (Reminiscent of those famous restaurateur triplets)

So, if someone created a site similar to the teeming millions big ass collage, but wherein photos are similar in size, clarity, and are maneuverable, that can bridge the gap left by the Minn. Twin Study. Because then people could “shuffle” their photo to an area on the collage which most matches another face, sort of like “filing of faces”. Then the people whose faces are similar can email each other or post on a forum provided by the site, comparing criteria such as voice, taste preferences, music preferences and any number of other things. Of course, the preferences may well vary due to peoples’ culture & environment. And people may post phony faces. And who knows what else. BUT IT’S A START!

BTW, approx. a year ago I emailed Dr.Nancy Segal about the fact that the study is incomplete, and she agreed with my point.

jally, crossposting this in MPSIMS and IMHO is not exactly a good idea. Especially since you already once posted in GQ, as you just admitted. Why not revive the old thread if you think it needs more attention?

Not that I think a lot of people will care for the subject, but anyway.

Once again, jally, you astound me with your ability to make my head swim like a goldfish in a flushing toilet with a relatively few sentences, all of which sound like they could almost make sense.

FWIW, I think the answer to this question:

is yes, you could probably do it with some Java or somesuch. But there are so many easier ways to do this I don’t know why you’d want to. Why not just have a big page of people’s faces, with emails next to them? Then you just look for someone who looks like you. No need to move pictures around at all. I don’t get it. Of course, the real problem would be trying to convince anyone to look at such a page, let alone enough people to even come close to make it worth the trouble.
