Maybe her last name will be “Knock-Knock-Knock”
Some poster years ago suggested the full name “Penny Penny Penny” which I think is perfect except that the spelling of the last name should be “Penney” to indicate relation to the inventor of Penney’s Game.
Having her be related to a famous scientist isn’t all that hard to believe. Olivia Newton-John (not exactly known for her brains) is the granddaughter of Nobelist Max Born.
I was DM for a cell where one of the characters was a female half-orc. The player used CHA as the dump stat so hers was 3. At one point the team hired a prostitute to honey trap a guard captain who was in charge of watching Something Important. The character asked her for some make-up tricks to improve her looks. I allowed a d4; the player picked up a die and rolled a one. “Sorry; it must be the scar.”
I know most of you don’t watch Young Sheldon, but in one episode both Sheldon and his sister took intelligence tests. He, of course, scored very highly on the usual tests while she did not. But she did demonstrate quite a lot of emotional intelligence. I suspect the same thing is true of Penny.
His brother built a large chain from the ground up, so not exactly dumb.
Clueless, maybe. Street smarts but not people smarts, maybe. But agreed, not “dumb.”
We literally see him make a sale over the phone, where is able to persuade a hesitant buyer, which impresses Leonard, and he insults some American footballer too. (Which, since Sheldon is known to be knowledgable about football, is I presume his fav player ;)).
Sheldon: I grew up in Texas. Football is ubiquitous in Texas. Pro football, college football, high school football, pee wee football - in fact, every form of football except the original, European football, which most Texans believe to be a commie plot.
Still one of my favorite Sheldon quotes.
OK, I was wrong, but this has been a fun thread.
She’s also not intellectual. Unlike Leonard, Sheldon and the rest, she’s not especially interested in ideas or abstractions; she’s much more at home with the concrete and physical. You want to solve Fermat’s Last Theorem or bounce a laser off the moon? Sheldon et al. are your guys. You need to change your oil or castrate a pig, you go to Penny.
Although, canonically, Sheldon thinks he knows more about car maintenance than Penny.
Her STR and CON were nothing to dismiss either. And DEX wasn’t exactly a dump stat.
Yeah, it’s difficult to argue convincingly that people smarts and street smarts are even different things.
And, if we can go back to 2E, she would have a very high Comeliness.
