big breast - for real

Is there a study of how many societies like big uns and how many dont?

In my English class (many years ago!) there was the concept of appeal against the norm. Hungry societies liked plump women…

If thats the case then I would say that Skinny is in now since the U.S. is such a fat society. But then how does breast correlate? It seems we want a adnormally skinny woman with adnormally large breast. Are we perverts or do all societies today have the same taste?

Answer: Western men are perverts. Pig, too. We don’t even care if they are foam rubber or silicone. We just like ‘em. We have liked ‘em for a long time. Just look at the palace frescos in Crete.

This is the sort of thing that Social Anthropologists study. There was a PBS? BBC? series on Sexuality sometimes back hosted by Desmond Morris, author of “The Naked Ape”, that delved into this type of topic. Breasts are a secondary sex indicator, and are thought to be attractive to men since they indicate fertility. Wide hips or big butts would also fall into this category. For men, this would be musculature, hairy chests and moustaches. Some psychologists would argue that breasts are attractive to men in a “back to infancy”, nurturing sort of sense.

But attractiveness is also a cultural and societal norm. For example, in most western cultures tan skin is seen as healthy and attractive. In Asia, however, the opposite is often true*. After a short while in Asia I noticed that I started to identify fair skin with attractiveness, probably based on comments from friends and colleagues, ie, “Look at her beautiful white complexion”.
