Yours very sincerely, Hollis Green.
That seems rather gratuitous. Certainly women were very important in Jesus’ ministry. And it was a woman to whom He first appeared after His resurrection.
Women fared better in Jesus’ ministry, that’s very true. Of course the New Testament (Bible lite!) softens the stance ( and in some instances erases) of many examples of sin and punishment.
Personally, I’d love it if Christians simply used Jesus’ ministry as their guide to thoughts and actions, but even Jesus said in Luke 16:17 “And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one title of the law to fail.”
Naturally there are a lot of contradictions in the Bible. I still suggest to anyone interested the book I mentioned in my first post here, but get into a lengthy discussion about the Bible here? Not really something I’m interested in doing.
All the major religions: Islam, Judaism, Catholicism, evangelical Christianity, LDS all teach a woman is to be submissive to male authority. The FLDS is extreme but they all teach just about the same thing if you read the fine print.
I felt bad for her but at the same time, she’s also very manipulative. A bit like Rhonda–I guess she’s had to be that way. When you grow up in a place with institutionalized statutory rape, you either learn to manipulate or you get crushed.
I saw that scene as her turning yet another scene to her advantage. Now she’s getting more info about the case against her father, straight from the source. Though I am starting to wonder if she’s going to turn against Roman. She’s always been super supportive of him–which is yet another thing that made me wonder if he’d molested her.
