Bike repair books?

I’ve been riding fairly seriously now, but I am still sadly lacking on basic bike repair. I’m sick of hauling my bike 20 miles to the shop I bought it from just to get minor things done.

Can anyone recommend a good, basic repair book for me? I am not going to do major work, just simple easy things. Stuff like adjusting brakes and gears (getting rid of weird clicking noises in certain gears) stuff like that. And with good diagrams that name all the parts of a bike.

Thanks.

zinn and the art of bike maintenance.

should be all you need (well, and some tools)

I second kryptonite2’s recommmendation. I believe it comes in two versions, Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maitenance and …Road Bike Maintenance. If you have a hybrid bike, you probably want the mountain bike version.

There are many good on-line resources too. Sheldon Brown’s page is probably the most famous. The Park Tool also has detailed repair manuals.
