Bill Clinton disbarred?

Is Bill Clinton disbarred in any states or courts?

Only before the US Supreme Court.

Duckster beat me to that link. However, a little further searching turned up this article on NewsMax: Clinton Resigns from Supreme Court Bar. Per that article, Clinton was suspended by the U.S. Supreme Court from arguing before it and given 40 days to argue why he shouldn’t be disbarred. Rather than do that, he resigned.

The article also says he was disciplined by the Arkansas bar, but it does not say what the punishment was. I’ve tried looking further, but I’m hitting just a bunch of ferociously pro-Clinton and anti-Clinton sites.

According to all the various newspapers, Clinton agreed on January 19, 2001, to voluntarily surrender his license to practice law in Arkansas for five years. He also paid $25.000 in legal fees.

The agreement ended further action that the Arkansas Bar was going to take against him.

The Supreme Court Bar typically requires that a person be a member in good standing of a state Bar. Once Clinton lost his membership in the Arkansas Bar, he was no longer eligible to be a member of the Supreme Court Bar. Once he regains his Arkansas license, he may be permitted back in the Supreme Court Bar.
