Bill Murray - why, why, why, why, why...

IMHO he used to be the ‘Kingpin’ of Comedy. He kept going where the Chevy Chase’s of this world dried up and sat rusting on the movie highway - ‘Snowday’ anyone? From the heady days of ‘Caddyshack’ and ‘Ghostbusters’ through to recent hits like ‘Rushmore’, I swear I cannot recall a bad performance from Bill (and that includes ‘Stripes’!). Are you waiting for the ‘But…’. If you’ve seen ‘Charlie’s Angels’ I’m sure you’re not!
This is not a bad film (it’s not good but it’s not bad), and the girls, oh the girls! But who to blame for Bill Murrays lame performance? The script? The director? Lucy Liu? No, I think it lies on the mat at the door of Mr Murray himself… IMHO… :o

He just knows what **Woody Allen **said when he switched to serious themes.
"Doing only comedy is like always eating at the childrens’ table"

He’s entitled to a little dignity. He is a genuine lead romantic actor, as seen in Stripes and Groundhog Day.
As such, he can do a light action flick without any change in his status.

I just read an article in Entertainment Weekly that said Drew Barrymore practically begged him to take the part, and that when he finally did, he demanded changes to the script. He was distant through most of the filming as well, and did not go to premieres on either coast.

When I read that, I thought, “Gee Bill, maybe you should think about that. Your career’s going downhill fast, it’s best not to be a prick at this point.”

Cough WhatAboutBob Cough

Havok, I’ll see your “What About Bob” and raise you a “The Man Who Knew Too Little.”

Hey Stainger,
What About Bob and The Man Who Knew Too Little?
Deal me in THAT hand. God those sucked.

Still,Rushmore wasn’t that long ago…
Maybe there’s still hope.

Scrooged, anyone?

Well, let’s be honest. Bill has one character. He plays him to death.

I hate to break it to you, but after Stripes and Caddyshack, he should have invested all of his money in a Swiss account and gotten out of the bidness. Well, maybe coming out of retirement to do Ghostbusters. But only the first one.

money, money, money, money, money

(That’s my guess anyway)

Murray has done some fine acting work. Anyone who doubts this should check out Rushmore, Mad Dog and Glory, or Ed Wood. Unfortunately, movies like Space Jam, Ghostbusters II, or Charlie’s Angels are where the big money is.

Noooo. Granted some of these films were bad, but Bill Murray never gave more than 100% - and that includes ‘Ghostbusters II’ and ‘Scrooged’… And I liked ‘What About Bob?’ and ‘The Man Who Knew Too Little’, but for the Bill only. And speaking of which… the Chad! What the hell was that? WHO the hell was that? I’ve since learnt that his name is Green and he’s going out with Drew Barrymore… and most puzzling, he’s a comedian?

“Where do you think those stairs go?”
“They go up.”

ooooh, I meant LESS than 100%, sorry. and i haven’t seen Space Jam. was he out-acted by a wabbit? tell me this isn’t true??

HEY!!!

Do not badmouth ‘Sgrooged’. It was a great film.

Fine Acting Work…everyone forgot to mention “The Razors Edge”. I liked it alot. Bill Murray is the kind of actor that we’re gonna give chance after chance after chance, because we love him so much. Even after he makes a movie like that one he did with the elephant. They’re saying that he is refusing to make any appearances or do interviews about “Charlies Angels”. Anyway, I will admit it, I thought “The Man Who Knew too Little” was hilarious, it got a little stuid here and there, but it was the perfect role for him.

Stimpy, his name is Tom Green and no, I don’t personally think he’s a comedian although I’m sure others would disagree. (There’s a thread around here somewhere on him).

My opinion is that he’s a dork who gets off on the humiliation of other people.

I guess this isn’t the place to say that I don’t like Bill and I never did.

So I won’t bring it up…

o.k. I was going to post here, but now forget it.

DOH!

FairyChatMom!!! Chomping thru ‘shit’ found at the bottom of a sanitized pool in ‘Caddyshack’?? Come on!

Bingo! He and his brothers are starting a restaurant chain, called (reasonably enough) Caddyshack. The first one will be at the World Golf Village in Ponte Vedra Beach. He & assorted Murray’s were on the radio here in Jacksonville and he said he did Charlie’s Angel’s for the cashola. And, you know, the hot chicks and the publicity.
Did you know that all the Murray bros (5, I think) went to Loyola on caddy scholarships? Now you do.

i only knew about brian doyle murray! where in chuff is ponte vedra beach anyway Lnix? i’m there! i’ve dined at The House of Blues, so all i’ll need after this is for Chevy to open his very own Wally World and i’ll be a very happy camper.

Anybody remember ‘Where the Buffalo Roam’?
