I am still not sure that we have any basis to understand what his purported intent was.<snip>One of the problems I have with the idea that he was deliberately being nasty is that he has no reputation in that arena.

-Point taken. My responses sometimes tend to be more unintentionally ‘lively’ than need be. I didn’t mean to imply he was purposely being mean, rather that his comment could be seen as irresponsible given the part of the country he was in and the young and general nature of the crowd.

So when I heard the noise, as a result, I would say I believed my wife was home, and that it was a fact that she was home, but I did not know my wife was home. I did not know because my basis for belief had nothing actually to do with her actual location–it was just a coincidence that she happened to be home when I formed the belief ni question.
