Me too! In fact I only opened the thread to see how he died. I assumed it meant he died today…
Ah that was a wonderful show. Unlike a lot of comedy sketch groups they knew when it was time to end a skit.
“Who killed JFK…today!”
“Baby talk or Convenience Store name?”
“Urban Wildlife”
I loved that show.
Beakman is just a poser. Bill Nye is a real scientist.
Not pop rocks and coke?
Since I never heard the first rumor, I’m glad it was just that. I like Bill Nye. Geeky fun.
Me, too. I always enjoyed the various ways they picked on their neighboring towns. Used to watch when I lived in Tacoma.
You mean like: “COPS: in Kent!”?
Not like I know anything about Seattle…
Wow. I might have to take back those neeners! Didn’t know so many people knew about Almost Live.
A few weeks ago I saw a rerun in which Bill Nye shot a bucket in the air using the power of baking soda and vinegar. They were in the parking lot and the bucket went up about 30 feet.
Hmmm, the only Beakman I know is the one in the comics. He’s cool but I think his sister Jax is the one with the real smarts. Bill Nye is better, though admittedly, it’s a close call.
My favorite bit on Almost Live is Billy Kwan. I love when he flies through the air feet first, up and down stairs and around corners to get the bad guy who won’t Mind His Manners. Cracks me up every time.
What we need here is Saltire.
He works for PBS and actually KNOWS Bill Nye.
[sub]rhetorical question alert[/sub]
Where the SamHILL are you Seattle people when we have a DopeFest?
I imagine I am dating myself, but I LOVED “Almost Live!” I used to plan my Sunday evening around it. I loved Ross Schaffer, and I still love Jon Keister. Well, I would still love Ross, too, if I had any idea what happened to him. What DID happen to him?
PS…MsWhatsit, once again you exhibit “SeattleCool”
Ross left Seattle to become Johnny Carson’s successor on The Tonight Show but for some reason, Johnny decided to not to leave just then, opting to retire a few more years down the road. Ross then hosted Family Feud or some similar game show for a while. Then he disappeared, eventually showing back up briefly on local Seattle tv with a nose and general face job. Then he disappeared again. I haven’t heard anything about him in 8-10 years now.
Clue delivery for Rilch! http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=193366
I LOVE Bill Nye! I thought he was dead too… In grade 4, our science class was essentially whatching him. I can still remember all the words to his intro…
sigh… those were the days…
Several. The stupidest one was the one in which a man (of course) attaches a JATO (big rocket used to launch certain military transports) to his car and launches himself into a rock formation. It’s crazy enough to be true, but it’s not.
“Where the SamHILL are you Seattle people when we have a DopeFest?”
Scotticher, here’s my excuse and I think it’s a decent one. When you guys had your last one, I’d only discovered SDMB a day or two before. You see, I wanted to go but was feeling shy, being a newbie and all.
Now that I feel comfy here, bet I’ll go to the next one. By the way, when is it. Huh, huh, huh?
