I just met Bill Nye The Science Guy!

I was over at the 7-11 picking up some beer and there was Bill Nye!. He was there with his neice(s) getting them slurpees or something. I went up to him and said “you look familiar…” He shook my hand and said “Bill Nye”. I introduced myself and told him my kids like him and that I was a fan of Almost Live. He’s visiting his brother, who lives here. Turns out he grew up in this area. No wild anecdote, just a nice chance encounter. I almost think he could be a doper…if so, nice meeting you Bill!

Bill! Bill! Bill Bill!

I loved Bill Nye the Science Guy. Great show, and we need more like it. (Or else, bring it back!) Kids should learn science!

I also was a fan of Almost Live. I especially liked the ‘Billy Kwan’ skits with the flying feet.

I had a very brief (two-sentence) conversation with him at our college’s Homecoming game last fall. I don’t remember exactly what it was about – he’d dropped a cup or something and my friend gave it back to him. He seemed quite nice.

I’m so jealous!

Damn.

I saw him at a southwest attraction last summer. It looked like he was about to film a piece there. I loooove the guy, but I didn’t speak with him because I saw a lady push her child in his direction - practically into him- then snap a picture - without even asking him first. In my opinion, that’s just tacky. He seemed a little peeved at that, so I didn’t want to bother him further. He was still polite, but I could tell it was irritating. That kind of behavior would have ticked me off.

Holy sweet mother of muffins. :: dies of jealousy ::

I saw him at the San Jose airport about five years ago. I was going to go up and say hi, but he was on the phone and my plane started boarding.

My envy, it burns…it BURNS!

Lucky!

I always wanted to see Bill Nye team up with Alton Brown. It would be like Batman teaming up with Superman!

My favorite Almost Live was the one where they showcased Green River Dance. East Side Story was pretty frickin hilarious too.
Science rules!

Noooooooooooo! How could you, An Arky!

shakes fist, walks off humming uncontrollably “Bill Nye the Science Guy…”

[vibrato falsetto] BEAKMAAA-AA-AA-AAN! [/vf]

Say what you will about the merits and flaws of the two men, but one thing cannot be denied: the penguins ruled.

BTW, Almost Live fans, he told me they’re doing a reunion show!

I didn’t ask him if he was going to reprise his Speedwalker role.

Lou, get out of my head!

Hah, whenever I describe Alton Brown’s show to someone who’s never seen it, I tell them, “It’s like Bill Nye the Science Guy, but for cooking!”

I attended 5 tapings of Almost Live. The first 2 were hosted by Ross Schaffer (whatever happened to him?) and the other 3 by John Keister. Always a good time and some of the best parts of attending tapings could not be shown on the air. Plus I happen to live in Kent, the butt of many of the show’s skits.

I am so jealous! I still show tapes of his old shows to my 5th graders and they love them. Bill has done so much to get kids to love science…

(Gotta go and check to see if my tape of Eyes of Nye came out.)

“Her name is Clinique giiiiiiiiiirl”. How about “Cops in Ballard”? I sold him a printer once. He seemed very goofy in a nerdy way.
