Please excuse my wild, uncontrolled laughter.
I actually like O’Reilly. That’s all it takes to watch The Factor. He’s arrogant, pompous, self-righteous, loud, and best of all, he’s Irish. Look at it this way, you should be glad he’s not drinking before the show. (Much? BTW, I’m Irish)
I even own Factor Gear. I read both of his books, and you know what? I think they were too short. I’m pissed he’s only on five nights a week. I’m pissed he’s only on the radio for two hours a day.
I’m pissed when they let that other guy sit in for him, because he’s not pissed.
First of all, if you can actually see FoxNews on TV, it means you’ve got some form of multi-channel programming, pick another channel. That’s why it’s America, and I’m presuming that’s why you have cable, DtC.
I like seeing people with poorly formed opinions get yelled at, I like someone who gives their opinion and isn’t afraid of offending every human in the country, I’m not going to apologize for somebody who goes after whoever they want to go after on their own God damned show(It’s not the “Evening News” folks, it’s the “O’Reilly Factor”). Yes, he is the host, and no on the set it is not a democracy, he picks who’s spinning the bullshit, 'cause his name is in the fucking title and not yours.
I love a man who says everybody can have the last word, and then fucking takes it himself to make the other person look like an ass after their mic has been cut off.
That having been said, I find that Diogenes is a wonderful, caring person, and I greatly respect his opinion on this thread and in others. I don’t agree with you, but I still love you, man.
Can you imagine if this had happened while Clinton was prez? O’Reilly’s head would have literally exploded like in Scanners.
Aww shucks :o. You’re embarrassing me. This is the pit, you’re supposed to call me an ignorant asshole.
Bill O still rocks!!!
Check out this website, “faces of the liberal media.” You have to scroll down past the “shades of purple” map to find Bill O’Reilly, notorious left wing muckraker, etc.
http://www.webpan.com/dsinclair/myths.html
The myth of the liberal bias in the media is one of the stupidest and most ignorant myths in America. The media is center-right at best in a country that grows more and more fascist every minute.
What’s with all these zombie threads wandering about? Should I be carrying a shotgun in case one tries to eat my brain?
FTR, O’Reilly is still an ass.
It’s also very politically correct and as fluffy as a kitten. I can see why this could be seen as left leaning by those who want to see it that way.
I taught in one African-American community for twenty years. There would have been much groaning at the idea of “skrimping and saving” for a concert grand and a trip to Europe. For them, successful scrimping and saving meant food on the table.

A journalist should adhere to the ethics of journalism. He claims to be a journalist on his dust jacket. The ethics of journalism require more than that a journalist be “technically accurate.”
If he has been a genuine journalist, then he must have written or broadcast at some point information/news that does not show his personal biases. Could someone point me in the direction of a piece he has written that does not show his bias?
I’m glad to know that he admits that the program that he is doing now is not journalism – but commentary. I consider his program to be more social commentary than news, however.
Is he unbiased? Are there any Liberals here who feel that O’Reilly is their spokesman?
How well do you think Billy O’ would do in Great Debates at SDMB?
In response to the OP, I don’t think “No Spin Zone” means he’s fair and balanced - O’reilly openly admits he’s Conservative. No Spin Zone means that he doesn’t let anyone - Conservative or Liberal - avoid the question at hand by beating around the bush or going off on tangents…when he asks a question, he expects a straight-forward answer or he’ll call people on it.
—The point is, he wants to call a spade a spade—
As we learned in The Big Kahuna, some people are blunt, but not honest. OR is very blunt, but his statements, far from telling it like it is, is very Orwellian in his use of language: double meanings, ambiguity, carefully couched fallacy, the whole nine-yards.
I’ve never heard O’Reilly admit to being a conservative (he definitely denies being a Republican). He always claims to be “independent,” and consistently denies having an agenda. During the 2000 election he even asserted with a straight face that he was “neutral” on the Bush/Gore battle and that he “didn’t care” who won.
The fact that he spent the entire election cycle villifying Gore and lionizing Bush was just “objective” reporting, I guess.
And when he gets an answer he dislikes, he repeatedly yells at the respondee to “shut up”, right?
Here’s a suggestion Diogenes - maybe he should call himself “Bill O’Reilly the Cynic” so everyone would know what an abject fuckwad loser he is right off the bat.
