Man, that was a very different experience. Let me bore the board with a couple of stories…
I went to Pakistan to help some friends set up a software development center there. These guys are really connected. I met with the Vice Admiral of the Navy (runs the Pakistan Navy), and the Chancellor of the biggest university in the country. But get this…
I met a guy who owns the NBC affiliate in Pakistan and a couple of TV stations. He’s setting up a satellite network through asia. One of the problems in Pakistan is very costly bandwidth, and everyone I talked with I tried to lobby a little to raise the importance of cheap Internet access. So I’m telling this guy that cheap bandwidth is like paved roads and it’s key to the future of the country. He says he’ll talk to some guy in the Ministry of Communications. Then he says maybe there’s something else he can do. He makes a call on his cell phone and talks to somebody in Urdu. Then he tells me “I just talked to someone at the network and asked them to do a segment on the news about the importance of bandwidth in Pakistan.” That night, I’m watching the national NBC news in Pakistan, and there’s a segment on bandwidth, mentioning all the points I told this guy. It was pretty trippy.

It really is amazing to me to hold that and know it came from the other side of the planet. I enjoy it emensely. Thanks a lot for sending it - I have spent my entire life in this country. When I get rich, I am traveling . . .a lot. Your pc brought some of that here to me. One day I am going to see the sights on it in person.
