I’ve seen snowboards that you ride like skateboards…anyone know a source/site?
Google was not my friend.
Thanks,

There are skateboards with a big ‘blade’ on the base. These are known as skatedecks, and I haven’t heard of people using them for anything other than novelty:
As for an actual snowboard that is ridden without bindings, I am not aware that such a thing exists. There are step-in bindings where most of the mechanism and support is in the boot, which can give the illusion that the rider is not strapped in. There are also Telemark snowboards, where the heel lifts off.
I can’t imagine a board without bindings being feasible. You really lean these things to turn, and things can get pretty bumpy on-piste. Furthermore, I doubt such a board would be much safer. Often the last minute ability to use the board as a brake is what prevents a much ‘faster’ accident. Not to mention the danger of other people’s unattended boards hurtling around the mountain.
Sorry - snowdecks, not skatedecks.
This is from Santa Cruz, they usually put out quality merchandise,
WINTERSKATE
I think there are many brands and design variations out there for this sort of thing.
Thanks.
Does anyone have any personal experience/knowlege of how well they work or how fun/safe they are?
