Biology behind afterglow.

What is it that make’s us feel so good after sex? Sometimes even days later we still feel good.
Endorphins don’t last that long.

Well, I used to know, but I’ve forgotten.

Hmmm. Good question. I think a lot of research is needed for this one.

I think the actual physicality of the act has something to do with it. Done correctly (at least in the manner that SO and I do it), sex is a workout, and the good feeling I get from good sex is comparable to the good feeling I get from a strenuous workout at the gym. To quote the old cliche’ - “I’m tired, but it is a good kind of tired.”

Maybe I don’t work hard enough in the gym, but I’ve never thought even the sweatiest gym workout could match even mediocre sex for stress relief and that feeling of sheer well-being!

Well yeah, David, I’m going from memory here too.
But there is, as Eva Luna say’s, “that feeling of sheer well-being!”
Not love, that’s a different thing. Although love can certainly enhance the feeling. Just ‘good’ sex. Sometimes even masturbation can do it. :o
But I’d like to know if there’s a biological reason.
Peace,
