A couple of unexplained dead blackbirds got me to wondering just what the warning signs are. I remember people were reporting dead birds last year but don’t remember what species the birds were.
Corvids: crows, ravens and jays.
Note that Avian Influenza is a completely different virus than West Nile and as of yet has only sporadically appeared in Asia. If it becomes established in humans it will be far, far more dangerous than West Nile. That latter is generally only a small danger to people with weak immune systems. The overwhelming majority of people who get West Nile are unaware they even are sick.
