Up till yesterday I was just somewhat amused by the birthers as malcontents of low intellect without serious credibility or ability to harm. Now this bullshit has got to stop. Any sane person who might not accept a copy of the document has got to wonder how the birth announcement was published a day later in two Hawaii newspapers. But that is not good enough for a doctor/army officer and a lawyer. Two professionals. These people are simply nuts or dishonest anarchists. Treasonous if you will. They will have an impact.
It is my position that it is incumbent upon the leadership of the GOP to vigorously denounce this movement to save the country and its military from this scourge.
Couldn’t view the video, but I’m just wondering if the this Jensen guy was sweating nervously, smoking a cig with a 2-inch ash and fidgeting and shifting his eyes back and forth ala Martin Short as Nathan Thurm.
Cooper quotes a letter of this guy saying, “There is significant evidence or unanswered speculation that Mr. Obama is not eligible to be president.” So apparently President Obama needs to answer every speculation to satisfy this guy.
Can one still be sentenced to ‘hard labor’ in a court martial? I think he ought to get that, and given a sledge hammer, and be chained to a mountain, with orders to “get rid of the mountain”. There should be a 24 hour webcam showing him either pounding on it or curled up asleep in the rubble pile. Put the video feed on cable and label it The Birther Channel.
Listen, if some soldiers had cited serious misgivings about the irregularities in the 2000 election as a reason not to fulfill their duties, I’m sure they would have been sent home with an apology for having been asked to sacrifice for their country under a commander-in-chief whose legitimacy was rumored to be suspect.
Yes, no point making a martyr of him, as he would be if given a publicized and webcammed sentence. The sooner he gets out of the public eye, the better.
When Larkin’s lawyer said “This could be over tonight. Tonight. Release the birth certificate, if it exists, signed by the doctor in 1961. It’s in the state of Hawaii’s records.”, I would have liked Cooper to ask “Will that really satisfy you, Colonel? If if was released tonight, would you be claiming tomorrow that it was a forgery?”
I saw it . The guy seemed to think the president of the USA should stop his duties to take the time to prove his citizenship to him. That , in spite of the fact that Cooper told him about all the proof already there. He told him Hawaiian authorities went through it and said his birth certificate is legal. That 2 newspapers ran birth notices. It showed that he would accept nothing as proof. He had no intention of being satisfied.
Aren’t there pictures of Obama’s birth certificate somewhere on the internet? Isn’t this a matter of public record or something? I really don’t get it. What exactly do they want ‘‘released’’?
My uncle was born in the exact same hospital as Barrack Obama. He says that his own birth certificate looks exactly like Obama’s. (Only, you know, with a different name.) If only this fine soldier was informed of that fact, I’m sure he’d see the light of reason and return to duty.
Are you all blind? This conspiracy was hatched decades ago, before Obama was even born. It’s all part of a plot to get a non-American Muslim president into power so they could push socialist policies, like Healthcare Reform, against the will of the American people.
The certificate of live birth is NOT the same as a birth certificate. Yes, it has all the same information as one, but you see, that’s how they’re clever, because this way they can honestly say they never forged his birth certificate.
Yes, his birth was certified by the Republican governor of Hawaii, but she’s in on it too. Why else would a traditionally Democratic state have a Republican governor at just the right time to certify it? Clearly, she’s a plant to try to lend credibility to it from the opposing party.
Sure, there was a birth announcement in the local paper, but that only proves that someone took out an ad. Considering that this conspiracy was hatched decades ago, it’s blatantly obvious that it was an ad taken out so when people figured out the truth, they could go “See! Why would that be there? Do you really think this conspiracy was hatched 50 years ago?”
Besides, anybody with a name like Barack HUSSEIN Obama can’t POSSIBLY be American. I mean, c’mon! What kind of American name is that?
Don’t you see? All of this “proof” that he’s American is worthless. Now, umm… I’m not quite sure why they couldn’t have found an American to do all this so they wouldn’t have to prepetrate this ellaborate conspiracy, but I’m sure there’s a good reason for it.
Seriously, I’m not a fan of Obama’s policies, but I’ve actually had a conversation with more than one person who actually argued the above points. I think it’s a cop out to basically say that everything he does is invalid because he’s not elligible for President rather than arguing the actual points of his policies.
In this case, it seems to me that anyone who is refusing to serve is probably just looking for a reason not to. Seriously, he may be your “boss” as Commander-in-Chief, but you don’t serve him, you serve your country. If you don’t like the policies of his administration, man up, and be some sort of conscious objector and be willing to accept the punishment for standing up or suck it up and serve like you promised. Personally, I don’t care if people refuse to serve for whatever reason, but at least be honest about it, don’t pretend like you’re being honorable when you’re not.
The maximum penalty is a dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of pay and seven years in prison. Don’t know if he’ll get all of that, though.
No, I don’t think they will have jack shit of an impact. There have been a whole lot of refusal to deploy cases the past few years, and they haven’t impacted a damn thing. Most of the cases have been over disagreements about the validity of the Iraq war, so this birther thing is a new twist, but it’s not fundamentally different. The guy don’t want to deploy? Fine. The guy has already been charged with 1 count of Missing Movement (failure to deploy), three counts of Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, and 1 count of Dereliction of Duty. He won’t have any more impact than the guys that refused to go to Iraq, but his ass is going to jail. Two years before retirement. He’s a fucking moron.
