I’ve been really feeling like bitchslapping certain people… then I started to wonder whether “bitchslap” is a derogatory term to women, or anyone else for that matter.
What does it really mean?

Yes, I believe that it is. That is probably what makes is such an effective threat/insult: By telling a man that you’re going to bitchslap him, you are insinuating that you are treating him no better than a woman. Now that’s sexist as hell.
I use chumpslap to avoid connotations other than “allow me to smack some sense into you”
Bitchslap says more about the person doing the giving than the person receiving it. If a guy is about to bitchslap someone, it would be considered effeminate. A woman on the otherhand delivering a bitchslap would be considered “hell on wheels”. A bitchslap doesn’t really say anything about who is receiving it, other than they are deserving of one.
I am not so sure about that. The person receiving it is essentially a “bitch” which could say a lot about how someone feels about another person.
Just call it a Gibbs-slap.
I thought Gibbs gave Dope-smacks. I always thought of bitchslaps as a back-handed slap delivered with malicious intent.
I thought it was derived from the idea of a pimp slapping his ‘‘bitch.’’ Either way, ‘‘bitch’’ certainly refers to the slappee rather than the slapper.
Note that bitchslap is pretty much only used when in the company of men. No right-minded man would call his own wife (or significant other) a bitch, lest he be on the receiving end of a … um bitchslap.
Same with riding bitch. You would never tell your wife (significant other) to ride bitch. You tell that to the weakling of your manpack.
I’m driving, you’re riding bitch.
Just reading that line made me want to shove a chubby kid with glasses.
Even if the receiver is a real bitch? Wouldn’t it then mean it is a slap exclusively reserved for a female bitchy person hence ‘bitch-slap’… kinda like ‘beach-ball’ or am I way off?
The problem is with the definition of “bitch”: “bitch” noun indicates specifically female (well, at least it used to) whereas “bitch” verb is non-gender specific. Since “bitch” can be either male or female these days “bitchslap” is not female specific insult? But then if you are an oblivious old fashioned person who’s unaware of modern usage of the word “bitch” then there might be a slight problem.
I think “pimp slap” is the politically correct term these days.
But I think the point is that the reason ‘‘bitch’’ can refer to either men or women nowadays is because it’s an insult to imply a man is in any way like a woman. A person ‘‘bitching someone out’’ is yelling in a shrill, reactionary tone, just like a woman. A man who is a bitch is a bitch because he’s weak, like a woman. The bitch is either the overemotional harpy or the one who is dominated - either way it has heavy sexist connotations.
Which doesn’t mean I’m going to get all up in arms about its usage (I probably use it myself from time to time), just let’s be honest about where our language comes from.
Not exactly, the person on the receiving end is never a bitch. Rather the receiver is said to have been bitchslapped which underscores his wimpiness. A macho man is never going to succumb to a bitchslap; it just ain’t going to happen.
I heartily disagree. If I bitchslap someone, I am slapping them in the same manner that I would slap any other bitch. In other words, with an open hand slap; you don’t deserve the respect of a nice closed-fist shot to the teeth.
The person administering the slap isn’t ever the bitch. Perfectly manly men can dole out open-handed bitchslaps with impunity and never once feel as if their masculinity is challenged.
I don’t know… “pimp slap” sounds better than bitchslap?
Well… I would never slap my bitch. I might slap your bitch, but not mine.
On the other hand… if a man (loosely speaking) were to be bitchslapped by another man… that man (the bitchslapee) would have to turn in his mancard and go to the end of the line and grovel for it to be reinstated. Which may not happen.
You want to bitchslap someone, and you’re concerned that it might not be PC?
Hankerin’ for one your own self?
No, absolutely not… I’m a giver.
I just felt like bitchslapping a bunch of people due to various reasons so I started to make a list. As I went down the list of people from all walks of life, this one question arose: what is exactly ‘bitchslapping’ as far as gender connotation as well as giver/receiver role play. I just wanted a bit of extrapolation on the bitchslapping dynamics before I continue with my list.
Would I actually go bitchslap someone? Probably not. These people probably have big bodyguards besides it is for therapeutic purpose only, just like my alcohol consumption is for medicinal purpose only.
