Bite me Bahamas Air.

I am not in the airline business. I also am not familar with the Bahamas. So it would stand to reason that before booking my flight from Nassau to the Abacos, I would call BahamasAir and find out which airport to fly into. They ARE in the airline business, and one could assume that, with a name like bahamasair, that they would be familiar with the bahamas.

So when I figured out that the airport they directed me too was a hundred or so miles off course, I figured I had better place a call a straighten that out.

It was then that I found out the the bahamasair motto is, “The customer is always wrong”.

Me: “I was given some bad information, and would like to change my flight”

b.a.: “we didn’t give you bad information”

Me: “Ummmmm, yeah you did, in fact it was about 100 miles or so bad. Listen, no big deal, I just want to change my ticket so I can get to the right place.”

b.a.: “we didn’t give you bad information”

Me: “yes you did, I was told to fly into North Eleuthera to get to elbow cay. Instead, I should be flying into Marsh Harbour. They are over a hundred miles apart.”

b.a.: “we didn’t give you bad information. You ordered your ticket online.”

Me: “And this somehow proves what? Listen, I don’t really care. I just want to switch tickets, so I get to the right place. Elbow Cay.”

b.a.: "I’ve never heard of Elbow Cay, and I’ve lived here twenty years. "

Me: “Can I just switch my tickets?”

b.a.: “No. You have to cancel your tickets, then you have to buy new tickets”

Me: “Fine”

b.a.: “Marsh harbor costs more.”

Me: “Fine”

b.a.: “There will be a $15 charge to cancel each ticket, and it will take up to 4 weeks.”

Me: “Well, since I was given bad information from BahamasAir, I don’t expect to be paying the $15 for each ticket.” (Yes, it’s piddly in the grand scheme, but her beligerance was really starting to piss me off at this point)

b.a.: “we didn’t give you bad information”

Me: “We’ve been through this already. Let me talk to your supervisor.”

The supervisor gave me more of the same. Luckily, I was on hold so long that I was able to find the fine folks over at Abaco Air online. They will be getting my business on this trip. And I will be contesting any charges from the beligerant bait and switchers over at bahamasair.

Sympathy devalued due to destination. :wink:
