Bite my ass China, you are not that good!

I am sick of hearing about how China is going to take over the world. Look at the Olympics. It is complete bullshit. My aunt and uncle had to save two Chinese girls with severe disabilities trapped in Chinese orphanages less than 15 years ago. Guess what, they are both perfectly fine and they are doing just great now as young adults. All of their torture was fixed and now they are free to screw up as much as they want on their own just like any spoiled kids. The only reason that happened was because they got out of China.

China has over three times the population of the U.S. but we are still spanking that ass like a stripper on a 3 for 1 special during the Olympics. They have a long way to go before they can produce lots of world class athletes let alone major cities that are functional and don’t choke you with pollution.

I hope they do better but I am not seeing it.

There’s plenty wrong with China, from pollution to a lack of democracy to human rights abuses. But your rant is idiotic, and you’re a fucking moron.

And if you’re going to go down the per-capita road to determine Olympic bragging rights, i’m sorry to tell you that the United States doesn’t even crack the top 20.

I know that baby. We have been down this dirt road before. Nobody knows where it leads but I will always love you just the same.

It is a fact that I am not a fan of China though. I will treat individual citizens nicely but they rank lower than Russia in my mind.

It’s also a fact that you’re that you’re a fucking brain-dead moron.

As long as we can agree that this thread demonstrates the truth of both these statements, then everything is cool.

I don’t know how many people are actually saying that China is going to take over the world, but no one is saying that they’ve already done it. They’re on a pretty good trajectory compared to where they were 50 years ago, and we might want to revisit this discussion 50 years hence.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint amigo.

A lot of people disagree but only time will tell. Love you ~Shagnasty.

Hint: You don’t need to be so high-strung about everything. Things work much better if you just relax and listen without getting worked up about it. Problems aren’t going to be solved in a week.

I write in my own style but I am not an idiot or moron by any account. I can write in many different styles and I chose this legitimate one to start this thread.

It is true that I don’t like China much. It isn’t the people, it is the state of their government and distribution of resources.

Gotta say your OP lacks coherence, Shag. A bunch of people say things about China, and you think China does not live up to those things, and so “Bite my ass, China”? As if it were China’s fault for not living up to what some people say they will be in the future? It’s pretty clear that you’re gloating about the US Olympic medal count vs China’s. Let’s also keep in mind that the Olympics are Western-Centric, and Chinese culture doesn’t necessarily celebrate all the skills that Western culture does and that are reflected in the Olympics. One can imagine an “Asian Olympics” that the US wouldn’t do that great at.

Do you understand the difference between content and style? It’s not your style that’s the problem; it’s the stupidity of your arguments.

Your OP contains three pieces of evidence (and i’m using that term in its loosest possible sense) supporting your assertion that China should bite your ass:

  1. two Chinese kids that your inbred sheep-fucking relatives took in
  2. the fact that the Chinese don’t win as many Olympic medals as the US
  3. a throwaway reference to major cities and pollution

But you go on thinking it’s about your “style.”

That is a fair and good point. I am mad about China abusing my adopted cousins, blocking life saving measures at work and producing completely sub-standard crap that isn’t worth being transported on a container ship even if it is free.

Again, I like the Chinese people and culture. Those are awesome. I just don’t like their approach to it on the international stage.

I am happy they are losing at the Olympics because Chinese athletes are subsided by the government while athletes in the U.S. are not.

And their burns are nothing to be scared of really.

There is much to criticize China about wrt human rights, and your cousins are lucky to have been rescued out of what must have been an awful situation. But the idea that China produces nothing but or even mostly worthless shit is nonsense. But even if they were, they’re on a learning curve. When I was a kid “Made in Japan” was synonymous with “Piece of Shit”.

I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but it turns out you are a much bigger idiot than I am (and some that is impressive).

My “inbred sheep-fucking relatives” are a medical doctor and a special education teacher that specialize in pediatric emergencies. They adopted two girls from China that had no hope in their orphanage. It took two years and multiple trips to get them to the U.S. After that was done, they had to fix a skull wound, rickets and lots of other medical issues. It cost hundreds of thousands of dollars for both of them but they are perfectly healthy now and in college and doing well.

What have you done recently you piece of shit? I still love you even when you fail but nobody insults my family and I am not a big fan of China.

…NZ are NUMBER 1!!! Whoo hooo!!! (Number 1 as of 1135 Monday 15th August at least!) Wasn’t expecting that: I thought we were having a horrible games.

But i did insult your family (although i concede it’s possible that you are a family outlier, and are not representative of your family as a whole), and i don’t recall having a bet with you.

And nothing you have written negates the stupidity of your OP, or indeed of what you have written since.

What’s up with Brazil? Almost at the bottom of the list!!

I’d actually be interested to see an economist analyze the relationship between population, national wealth, and Olympic success.

At some level, both population and wealth are going to help you. That is, if you have 330 million people (USA), you are simply going to have more athletes to choose from than if you have 4.5 million (New Zealand), and are more likely to have a larger number of the type of physical outliers capable of significant athletic achievement. And if you’re rich, with a per-capita GDP of over $50,000 (USA) your society as a whole is more likely to create the conditions for top-level training and other support systems than if you have a per-capita GDP of $15,000 (Brazil) or $2,500 (Nepal)

But while population and wealth no doubt help, there could be a place in the equation where more population or greater wealth does not necessarily translate to Olympic success. That is, while the difference between 4.5 million and 330 million might give significant population advantages in terms of overall medal counts, a small country like New Zealand only needs a very few successful athletes to beatg the US on a per-capita basis. And it also could be that, the difference between 330 million and 1 billion might not be very important; above a certain level, population might not matter so much. Similarly, while the difference between $2,500 and $30,000 per capita might make a big difference, the difference between $50,000 and $75,000 might not be very important.

I’m sure there are economists who could examine these issues and come to some interesting conclusions. For all i know, someone has already done it.
Note: per-capita GDP figures taken from CIA World Factbook, and are purchasing power parity (PPP) figures, where per-capita GDP is normalized to allow direct comparison of actual purchasing power, not just nominal dollars.

And here I’m in the mood for some General Tso’s.

But Brazil is a relatively wealthy nation with a large population. That was why I was surprised. It also has a culture that celebrates many of the skills involved in the Summer Olympics.

What events would be at the Asian Olympics that China would dominate at? Comedic responses are welcome

Tai Chi, Kung Fu… plate-on-stick twirling!
