People mourn celebrities they have never met. Mourning is often irrational. Poking people while they are mourning is tacky and jerkish regardless of the “merit” of why they are in mourning.
Eh, I think this is a good example of why “safe spaces” are a good thing, and the phrase shouldn’t be treated as a perjorative.
Seriously? Of course you care about someone you have a crush on, especially someone you know, in your social circle, and of course you mourn their death. No scare quotes needed.
