Just found the best, red-hot version of The Black Bottom. All day I’ve been doing that raggedy stomp! Just click on the link and hit the “Black Bottom” in the intro, then roll up the rugs, grab the nearest sheik or sheba, and go on a Black Bottom jag till the neighbors cry Uncle!
. . . Just bumping this, 'cause I see Ike’s online and I wanted him to hear this.
Whoa…that is hotter than hot, and then some! Love the cornet solo about two minutes in. That guy gives a whole new meaning to “vibrato.” Maybe there was an earthquake going on during his choruses.
I just picked up a couple of recordings you might enjoy…Adrian Rollini’s Tap Room Swing (Original Mono Recordings 1927-1938), and the second album from R. Crumb and the Cheap Suit Serenaders.
Unfortunately, the Amazon link has no sample from “Persian Rug,” the best tune on the disc. But “Alabama Jubilee” and “Hula Medley” are pretty cool, too.
Glad you liked it, Ike–I love the “clapping” break toward the end. Shame Gramma didn’t teach me more than a couple of steps; I have to fake it with the Charleston, too.
Well, you can shimmy shimmy shimmy like your sister Kate, can’t you?
“It must be cellulite, 'cause jam don’t shake like that!”
