black hole question

what happens when light goes into a black hole. More specificaly when light goes into a black hole does it make the singularity more energetic as light doesn’t have any mass it won’t add to the singularities mass but it still has energy. Does the light change into something else or would it just be a layer over the singularity like a light ozone

The black hole alters gravity to the point where there is not other direction but IN. Then the light hits the singularity, where there is no space, just an immensely massive point. For what happens then, you’ll have to ask Hawking, and even he isn’t sure.

Light doesn’t have mass as such, but the energy in light can be converted into mass following the formula E=mc[sup]2[/sup] so if you shine a light into a black hole my guess is that it will gain mass…
the energy can’t get out, except by Hawking radiation, and so if the black hole is larger than a certain size it will gain mass more quickly than it loses it under these circumstances.
