What is the elephant and the “Never Forget” Thing about? Is it just another example of skaters being weird?

I’m years out of skating, but what is being sold is just the wooden top “deck” of the skateboard. No wheels or any of the other stuff
Well… elephants are traditionally attributed the ability to never forget anything.
There are about 9 million causes for which there are posters and slogans along the lines of “Never Forget”
This is just a social mockery. A kinda funny one too.
Thanks Lucki! I was looking at their (cryptic) website with slogans such as “never be bought” and “never be sold.” So I guess that explains it.
the elephant graphic goes back at least 12 years or so to the Rob Lucero (the guy who runs Black Label) skate decks. at the time he skated for Santa Cruz and there were a couple of deck designs primarily featuring the elephant, and a smaller elephant graphic was included on the decks with other designs. i’m not sure what the “never forget” is about.
