I just finished Black Hawk Down. It was a great movie. I was wondering, how expensive are black market arms? I mean, all those Somalis were equipped with machine guns. They were older guns, like AK-47s, but I was wondering, how much do they pay for guns n ammo?
they cost money. For a specific amount of money tell me the exact weapon and where you want to be when you buy it and I might be able to answer this question.
AK-47’s are cheap. You can get them in the US for around $150 in Ok shape (Chineese and Czech versions. Sov versions are a bit more for some reason). They are much less in other countries depending on recent historical Soviet involvement in local politics and the local economy. The Soviets literally gave millions of them away so they can be had pretty cheap. Same with RPGs’.
Probably less than a few hundred dollars if that. In the cold war days the Soviets gave them away by the boatload to client states along with all the ammunintion they could use. The AK-47 may be a bit long in the tooth but is still an incredibly effective weapon. Cheap to make and it always works even under the worst conditions.
